I've been forcing myself for the past year  not to look at other people's M.A.M.E.
projects until all my ideas we're firmly planted. I knew from the beginning I should use a Gauntlet cabinet, but where to get one. I know all of you are now gasping "How could he kill a poor little Gauntlet cab!" Not to worry the cabinet I chose was in very very poor shape.

The M.A.M.E.KIND Cab. After Wood Repair and painting

The Cabinet had been converted at least three times I know of. It seems to have started out as a Gauntlet I cab and then converted to Gauntlet II. Which is O.K. Unfortunately the original side art was painted over in black and then the control panel overlay was masked off with a COMBATRIBES vinyl overlay (which I am presently trying to peel off). Then the next disgrace was the final straw for me. They took a piece of plexi glass and some construction paper and bolted it on top of the
overlay to make it into some football game or something! By the time I got it the casters were already broken off and there were big gouges in the wood. Not to mention that one of the side panels had about 5 inches of the bottom corner broken off.

If you have not had much experience in repairing damaged particle board let me recommend a wonder product before you try anything else. BONDO, yes bondo if you are going to paint and sand please use bondo. It is strong and extremely easy to use.

So now I'm sort of in a holding pattern and I'm waiting for my CD-ROM's (yes plural) and my 3" track ball. Then my partner in crime Matt will work electrical wonders on all this stuff an make it work. My job is art and design and his is electrical. Matt is an audiophile as well so needless to say this will also be an mp3 Jukebox. I'm currently ripping my 200+ collection of cd's for the task. Then I'll burn my collection to disk and put them in the 3 cd roms that the machine will have (as soon as they arrive in the mail). Then wallah! an mp3 jukebox!

People involved:

Matt. He's actually working on my car in this picture if you were wondering
why we would put a starter in it.

Glenn. His job is to test out the hardware to see if it will stand up to the test. Usually he pours milk from his cereal on the delicate components or "Goldbergs" the hard drive as standard tests.

This is Chip, my art critiquer (SP?).
His job is to point out mistakes I try to get away with, which usually makes me mad, but he's always right.

This is Brent he's not a roommate. mainly because his combat medic costume to the right pisses me off. (Just kidding Brent!)

Morgan and Glenn hard at work. (Morgan Donated a CD-ROM drive
floppy and network card.
